It IS a day of mourning. I find it oddly comforting to read Jung’s words and know that he also struggled to comprehend and emotionally cope with the outbreak of collective violence and terrorization in his own time.
And also, you pointed out something I appreciate having named: there’s all this talk of “the peaceful transfer of power”, which….ok, sure. Super important. But what’s happening feels antithetical to any concept of peace I can understand. The cognitive dissonance feels so oppressive.

You won’t be surprised to know that I feel the same. It’s a comfort to remember what humans have endured, and what they thought about it at the time.
