I had the great pleasure of hosting author and psychologist Elinor Dickson yesterday, with a wonderful group of humans from all over the world. We were just getting started when the clock told us that it was time to end, and there were immediate calls for Elinor to return in the future to continue the conversation. (I’ll work on it!)
Some of what Elinor shared with us:
The way dreams and the inner life have informed her path
The vision she had at midlife, and what it showed her about the importance of the ego’s role in our psychology
How she first encountered Marion Woodman
Her dream the night before she met Marion for the first time for analysis
The remarkable synchronicity in which they both knew that their work as analyst and analysand was over
The emergence and disappearance of feminine consciousness
The arch of the last one hundred years, and where she thinks we’re headed next…
Her new book on world history from the perspective of the soul
Here is Elinor reading a portion of her new manuscript:
Elinor Dickson, PhD, is a psychologist, Jungian therapist, and lecturer. She was the director of psychological services at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto for nearly twenty years. She is the co-author with Marion Woodman of Dancing in the Flames, and the author of Dancing at the Still Point, as well as many essays and a forthcoming book.
Books:
Dancing in the Flames: The Dark Goddess in the Transformation of Consciousness
In Pursuit of Wisdom: Seeing History Through the Eyes of the Soul is a book in the works, though we don’t yet have information on publication; in the meantime, you can read a bit more about it here.
Paid subscribers have full access to the recorded conversation with Elinor Dickson, plus the posts and discussion for our slow read, all past workshop recordings, and the many upcoming gatherings.
