Join Me On Sunday to Explore the Shadow
Our February gathering for community, discussion, and reflection
“If people can be educated to see the shadow-side of their nature clearly, it may be hoped that they will also learn to understand and love their fellow men better. A little less hypocrisy and a little more self-knowledge can only have good results in respect for our neighbor; for we are all too prone to transfer to our fellows the injustice and violence we inflict upon our own natures.”
— C.G. Jung, CW 7, para 28
Gosh, that quote from Jung really captures the whole point. The more we understand some of the basic principles of the unconscious and of ourselves as psychological beings, the more we’ll understand the roots of violence and injustice in our world.
I wrote about the shadow from a couple of different angles this month here and here, and before that, I wrote about collective guilt and our shadow selves. But even still, I’m just scratching the surface. When it comes to a concept as big as the shadow, the avenues for possible exploration are endless.
I hope you’ll join me on Sunday at 10am PST | 1pm EST | 6pm GMT to dive into this topic together.
These monthly one-hour gatherings for paid subscribers provide space for us to be together in an intergenerational community and discuss ideas, reflect on our lives, and even enjoy a little shared silence and journaling. As you may know by now, I love creating spaces for individuals (usually strangers!) to be in conscious relationship with each other and with themselves. Enriching Zoom gatherings are possible!
The format for these hours is light, but if you were with us in January, I do anticipate more Q&A and discussion this week and less structured journaling and quiet time. From the emails I’ve received, I think people are eager to explore this topic verbally! Bring me your burning questions!
The Zoom link is below for paid subscribers.
If you are not yet a paid subscriber and would like to join on Sunday, you can upgrade anytime and the link will become visible to you. You’ll also receive the link directly in your subscription confirmation email.
I’d love to see you there.
Oh, and, a last-minute addition: info+registration links for two retreats that I’m hosting on San Juan Island (WA) in June are also below the paywall. I’ve promised to share registration links first with paid subscribers, and they’re hot off the press as of last night. (I’ll announce details publicly soon.)
*If finances would prohibit your attendance but you want to be there, please reply to this email or send me a note at satyadoylebyock@ substack.com ASAP and I’ll comp you a subscription. I operate on trust for this and don’t need an explanation, just honesty. xo
